Hello,

I apologise for writing this in English, but I am not (yet) able to write in your beautiful language. Reading it, though, is quite easy because I speak French and Italian, and it is very similar. My name is Wesley, I am Dutch but live in Switzerland. I will be on an internship in Bucharest during the summer, it will be my first visit to Romania, looking very much forward to it!

The reason I post in this topic is that I have an account on the well-known photo site Flickr, where I show my railway photos. The majority of them are Swiss. Some examples:

I'll definetly check your galllery - what you posted is very nice true about the language, however not mayn westerners are able to deciphre it and it's always been a misery to me why it is so. Either way, with a bit of goodwill and some basic latin language knowledge you should be fine. >Not to mention everyone speaks english over there. You're safe from the language point of view

I live in St. Gallen, so in the eastern "outback" of Switzerland . I have understood that deciphering spoken Romanian is a bit harder, but with written texts I can usually cope quite well indeed. However, if I am going there, I want to speak the language at least a bit. That makes life easier and people in such countries (that is, countries where the language is not English, French or Spanish) are often very pleased if you try to speak their language as a foreigner . Plus: it has more charm than communicating in English as far as I'm concerned .

Very true on all counts.

You may notice the strong southern accent (I'm from the north, and will forever - kindly - laugh at them for their silly way of speaking). You will have a great time if you avoid the usual tourist traps. Hang around locals for a while to see what's what. Do consider trips up north / east, I could give you a few hints if you wish.

Aia e ca sa priceapa el sau ca sa nu fie scris in limbi straine pe forum? Mutam pe privat daca nu i voie.

Acel buton traduce forumul in 52 de limbi posibile, ajuta foarte mult user-ii straini de pe forum, fiecare user poate sa isi personalizeze limba in care se traduce forumul!
Fiecare poate sa scrie in ce limba doreste, engleza , franceza, bulgara, nu exista conditii de limba scrisa pe forum!

Rame moderne pentru distante mici.

Locomotive electrice 4/4, in ultima fotografie tragand petrol, in gara Lausanne, intrand in Vest.

Locotractor de manevra in gara Lausanne. In prima poza e condus de o domnisoara.

Elvetienii au facut o arta din calea ferata.....cred ca e cel mai utilizat sistem de transport la ei.
Intr-adevar locomotivele Re6/6 reprezinta o serie remarcabila ....cred ca e cea mai reusita locomotiva din lume la vremea respectiva.
Din pacate am sesizat ca au fost implicate in multe accidente feroviare.
Poate reusesti sa ne scrii si despre acestea cate ceva.

O sa scriu - chiar am gasit ceva material pe tema asta. Ma bucur ca mai intereseaza pe cineva. Intr-adevar calea ferata e foarte bine intretzinuta, des folosita, insa foarte scumpa. Un dus-intors de 100km costa cam 35 euro.. (CHF 42.-)

Problema principala sunt pozele pe moment - multe vad ca n-or fost postate calumea. O sa ma ocup in pauza de pranz.

Locomotivele romanesti seria 060-DA, fiind licenta elvetiana seamana ff mult ca si forma a cutiei cu seria Ae6/6, Re4/4 sau Re6/6.
Formula osiilor la locomotivele Re6/6 , respectiv Bo-Bo-Bo, le avantajeaza la circulatia in curbe pacat ca in Romania nu s-a adoptat acesta formula.
