The traindriver of this TGV had his last train before he retired. There was a little ceremony on the platform with a red firework on the tracks. I know only the word in Dutch language ''knalsein'' it was used in the past when there was a dangerous situation on the tracks, the traindriver could place the red light on the tracks. But in France and Netherlands, it's only in use as a ceremony for situations like this. How do you say this in Romanian?

From what I've seen in some old SNCF video, each motor vehicle has on its inventory a red-flare torch ("Torche aux flamme rouge"), used to signalise emergency stop (i.e. you are on the track, it's dark and the bridge is damaged and your radio is not working... and you need to signalise the train driver to emergency stop). Maybe they put one in front of the train?

I don't know if Romanian Railways uses red-falre torches, but they use alerting blasting caps ("capse de alarmare"). These are placed on the track and when the wheel hit them, they blow away so they make a lot of noise. Detonating of a single caps means emergency stop, regarding the train, speed and position.

Thank you for your response, it was exactly what you discribe here. In Dutch ''knalsein'' are 2 words: Knal= blast and Sein is Signal. So I think the situation in Romania is exactly the same as here. In this case, the collegeas of the SNCF traindriver put them on the tracks to celebrate his last working day.  Lots of smoke!

When I first seen the pictures, I thought the train arrived with an overheated brake. This effect is nice to be observed at night, when the brake won't release, the brake shoes and the wheel (or the the brake pads and the discs) could turn red due to overheating ("fire circles", ussually the station master or any other railway person who observe this will announce the train driver by radio to stop).
