On some sections with much traffic of (heavy)freighttrains, the tracks are equipped with some carbon blocks on the rail.
It seems that it reduse ''vibrații'' of the ground when a heavy train passes by. A lot of Olanda has ''turbă'' soils, so the houses on it will vibrate when a train passes. This seems to help a bit.

The strange building in the air on the platform was years ago the place for the rail traffic control/stations chef; I don't know exactly when, but I suppose that is was in use until the 1930s... There is still a stairs on the platform on it. I never been inside it, but I'm quite curious how it looks like from the inside.
